1 - Silverstar is BEAUTIFUL, LIKE SO BEAUTIFUL, YOU CAN’T UNDERSTAND, SO GOD DAMN BEAUTIFUL! Silverstar is ski paradise, you’ve never seen such perfectly snow-coated trees and such colourful houses. I wish everyone could experience silverstar, and I absolutely love that we come here before Christmas. This term is incredibly overused, but if there ever was a winter wonderland, this would be it. It’s one of those places that can put me in a great mood just because of the scenery.
Sometimes I reflect on race locations and rate them as which are my favourite places to do my morning / evening walks and jogs. I get into the habit of going for a post dinner walk and a pre-breakfast jog on race morning. I usually end up doing these really early before the sun, or anyone else is up, and it is always quiet and peaceful and I just get to take in my surroundings. Well Silverstar is #1 on my pre-breakfast jog locations list!
Sunday was a classic sprint on a course that I reeaaallly like and that I was really excited to race on. Unfortunately I woke up feeling sick, so made the call to not race. Mentally I was so prepared and excited for this race, but my body was telling me no. I think I made the right decision, and instead of racing I got to go for a beautiful easy classic ski. That was super nice because usually when you show up for a race weekend, you only get to ski the race course and don’t really have the opportunity to explore the trails.
